Mock productions help educate RTV majors

Gregory Powers of the Radio-TV (RTV) program at Lake Land College takes students through the paces television production several times a week as part of the curriculum of the Radio and Television Broadcasting class.

This mock production features all the components of a live television broadcast, however, is merely recorded for educational purposes. Students takes turns during each production performing the tasks of several elements of production.

During the aforementioned phase of the Radio-TV Broadcasting course, students must execute duties related to the following:
  • Technical Director
  • Graphics
  • Audio Mixer
  • Teleprompter
  • Floor Manager
  • Camera Operator
  • Talent (Host/Interviewer)
  • Talent (Guest/Interviewee)
Many of the radio-oriented courses are instructed by Powers while TV-specific courses are instructed by Ed Thomas.

Students can major in this field; Lake Land College offers an AAS.RTV degree (Associate of Applied Science in Radio-Television Broadcasting).
